Finally got pictures of the completed mural. It looks so bright and cheerful in the sun!

Today we worked on "Big River, Wild River Mural" amidst a crazy dust storm. We made progress...but still have lots to go. I had fun doing the GIANT fish and heron

"Big River, Wild River" Mural Day 1

Day 1 of "Big River, Wild River"! This was my solution to my group wanting to mix elephants with moose...which made the zoologist in me cringe! We will be painting one side of the underpass with HUGE PNW animals from around this area, trout, bear, moose, wolves, great blue herons...ducks etc. The other WILD side will have a mix of crazy jungle animals...including lots of snakes! "Little Bee Eaters" Original 10x20 Acrylic Painting

Another Indian painting. I will be doing a mix of people, birds, animals, goddesses etc. for my show in January. These jewel like birds really exist...and they do eat bees along with other insects. This is an original acrylic on gallery wrapped 10x20 canvas.

"In the Garden" Original 24 x 30 Acrylic Painting

Another painting done for my India show...this one was fun for me-playing around with how far I could tilt her head and painting crazy flowers! This is an original acrylic on gallery wrapped 24x30 canvas.

"Mor Love" Original 24x36 Acrylic on canvas

Yeah! A little break from murals for a few days...which I badly need to work on my paintings for my India show in January 2011. Here is one of them, which I just finished titled "Mor Love" (mor is the hindi word for peacock) a 24x36 textured acrylic on canvas for $1,675.

Harold Balazs Mural side one completed

I forgot to post the pictures of the completed mural, side one. Harold Balazs, local Spokane artist, is heavily influenced my images found in nature. He lives on the Little Spokane River and loves to flyfish, which is why we painted this part of the mural as we did. One of his main motto's in life is "Transcend the Bullshit" it can be found on a number of his sculptures and enameled works...look closely at the sun and you will see how we incorporated it into the painting.

Harold Balazs Mural day five

A very blustery, rainy day today ...working on the murals. We got a lot done though. I think we only have one day left-then it is on to the next one. In this one we feature various sculptures and enameled works by Harold Balazs, a local Spokane artist. Each member of the group (ages 16-22) got to choose their favorite pieces to work on. They are a truly talented bunch!
