"Sulky Heron" Original 16x20 Acrylic Painting

A little bit of time to paint today... I finished "Sulky Heron" which I had started a few weeks ago. I am getting ready to do another "puzzle" mermaid piece. I will have some air-dry clay pieces in it for added texture.... so stay tuned!

This piece is on a 16x20 gallery wrapped canvas (2.5" thick on the sides) I have wrapped the pattern in the sky around both side borders, so there is no need for a frame. It is $485 for the original.

"Big Koi Pond" Original 36x48 Acrylic Painting

Well, it is 1:00 in the morning and I should be asleep... but I HAD to get this done tonight as I was on a roll! This painting is filled with swirling colors and dense textures. Some of the koi have patches of gold leaf in their bodies. I love the contrast of pale green gold and bright coppery orange. "Big koi pond" would look great in someone's living room... even if it doesn't match the couch! It is an original acrylic on 36x48 gallery wrapped canvas for $3,600. I have wrapped the border over the two sides, so there is no need for a frame. Please contact me if you are interested. SOLD

"Aquamarine New Year" Original 22x30 Acrylic Painting

"Aquamarine New Year" is the title of this piece, which I just finished. I couldn't seem to stop creating more and more designs and details with this one! It will in my upcoming solo show at the Tinman Gallery in April. The opening is March 27th from 5-9pm. She is on a 22x30 canvas for $1,225. Please contact me if you are interested. SOLD

Happy Birthday!

Thank you everyone for your greetings, gifts and wishes today. I really have had a wonderful birthday! I went skiing at Lookout Pass. I treated myself to a women's ski clinic called "Downhill Divas" and luckily for me I was the only diva! So I got one on one lessons from 9:30 until 2:30 with a wonderful instructor Geraldine (Gez) plus lunch and a chair massage. The sun was shining and I learned so much and had a blast. Came home and loosened my muscles in a yoga class, and now it's time for pizza, presents and german chocolate cake-hooray! What could be better?

"Morning Gambol" Original 10x10 Acrylic Painting

It seems like the days have flown by...and I haven't added anything new! Here is another spot of sunshine. A Gambol's quail titled "Morning Gambol" 10x10 on a gallery wrapped canvas for $225.
We enjoyed the winter yesterday and went night skiing. The sky was clear and the snow sparkled in the starlight. I have been working on a mermaid riding a sea serpent, which I will post soon... she is coming along swimmingly!

Yellow Horse Red Raven Original 11x14 Acrylic Painting

"Yellow Horse Red Raven" is the title of this one, which I finished last night a little past midnight... therefore it is today's daily painting. I need to spend most of the day working on taxes, which is unfortunately just part of doing this for a living!

Crooked Crows Original 11x31 Acrylic Painting

I had a nice day in the studio today working on "Crooked Crows". I tried out some new textures and border patterns. There is irridescent violet mixed with the blue in the sky, which makes the crows really stand out against the glowing background. I had fun doing the wiggly winter trees, they look like they are dancing!
This painting is an 11x31 acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, $625.

Hoping for Peace Original 9x12 Acrylic Painting

I took a break from the animals to paint a blue woman. She is blue because of all of the unrest in the world today. She looks in the direction of the sun, hoping for peace... but the raven (harbinger of doom) sits upon her shoulder looking back. Still... she has patience, and hope. This painting is acrylic on 9x12 gallery wrapped canvas (ready to hang) $200 for the original. SOLD

Kokanee Gold Original 26x48 Acrylic Painting

Today it snowed some more... and I finished up "Kokanee Gold". This is a 26x48 piece made up of individual canvases, painted wood molding and slate and fused glass accents all attached to a solid wood backing. It is a richly textured, multi-dimensional piece and I very much enjoyed "working" on it! I'll be taking it to be part of the Museum's (Spokane's Museum of Art and Culture) art and rental program. It is for sale ($2,600) please contact me if you are interested in it.

New Years Day Original Acrylic 15x30 Commission Painting

Well I spent a happy first day of the new year painting this commission piece of Dolly Varden Salmon appropriately titled "New Years Day" I really enjoyed the interesting blend of colors, detailed patterns, and painting the border along the edges of the gallery wrapped canvas. After a long journey, this painting will find its home in Ireland! May you have a prosperous and peace-filled New Year.... All the best! Melissa
