"Dancing with Stars" Original 24x48 Acrylic on Canvas


Just finished up a new painting titled "Dancing with Stars". When Brandon and I have gone to the San Juan Islands in the past to photograph orcas, it is always amazing to watch the exuberance of the babies... they seem like they are twirling and dancing among the waves.

A large giclee print of this original will be hung in the Children's Clinic waiting room in Tualatin, Oregon. The original is a 24x48 on gallery wrapped canvas for $2,225. Please contact me if you are interested sirenagraphics@hotmail.com

"Pili's Pond" Original 30x40 Acrylic Painting


Happy Holidays! We finally got a tree and decorated it last night....I have been so busy painting I haven't had the chance to do it before this.

It is a grand fir and smells great. Last night I delivered this beautiful koi painting titled "Pili's Pond" to my amazing friend and Spanish conversation teacher Maria Pilar Burgeno Asenjo Amanz de Frutos!

She loved it-hooray!

Tonight's painting is titled
"Kodiak Dreaming"
It is a 20x20 Acrylic on canvas panels with wood molding and glass tile accents. The textured border wraps around the sides. It is a commission piece and is flying away to upstate New York tomorrow.

"June and the Moon" 36x36 Original Acrylic Painting




Yeah! I am done with my large and very complicated commission piece titled "June and the Moon". It is one of my puzzle paintings and has a lot of texture as well as three dimensional clay pieces and glass tile accents. I just varnished it and tomorrow we are both traveling to Tacoma to its new home. It was a tricky piece but I had a lot of fun working on it.

Hmmm it seems to be Monday again! Had a great Thanksgiving visit with my family in Oregon. Now I am back to my semi-clean studio to create again. "Out for Sushi" Original 16x24 Acrylic Painting


This is a painting to celebrate Thanksgiving and a delicious big meal!

"Brownie Sunday" Original 18x36 Acrylic Painting

Painting a brown trout (along with a rainbow and brook) on Sunday inspired this title "Brownie Sunday" It was fun to do this colorful piece with lots of texture and movement in it. The border wraps around the two side edges. This is an original acrylic on an 18x36 gallery wrapped canvas for $1,275.

"Jungle Jewel" Original 17.5 x 24.5 Acrylic Painting


A relaxing Saturday... did a 2 hour yoga workshop this morning and then came home to paint "Jungle Jewel". This is a very pretty piece made up of gallery wrapped canvases of various depths, wood molding and fused glass tile all attached to a wooden backing so that it hangs as one piece 17.5" x 24.5" for $875. It has been rather gray, so it was nice to do a tropical piece.

"Bathtub Turtles" 18x21 Mosaic Mirror







Good Evening...chilly with a bit of snow for us here. I finally finished my interior mosaic class, which I took from Jan Wilhelmi in Coeur d' Alene at the Creative Element. She is a great teacher and I learned a lot.

Here is my first project..."Bathtub Turtles". Appropriately it will go on the wall above my tub to keep my Mexican and Haitian sculptures company.

"June and the Moon" preliminary commission sketch


Hello all... today you will find my preliminary sketch for an upcoming commissioned painting titled "June and the Moon". I am very excited to do this painting as it will have passion flowers, pomegranates, great colors and new creatures to work on. I really enjoy commissions because they stretch my creativity and get me out of my "ruts" I'll post the finished painting when it has been completed.

Another misty morning... I enjoyed the shapes of the trees as I walked beside the Spokane river with their dark bark and golden leaves-then a bald eagle flew past...ahhh! "Kelp Queen" Original 36x36 Acrylic Painting


My studio is pretty much cleaned up-yeah! So am back in business.

Here is the lovely "Kelp Queen" a cold water mermaid, with a number of rockfish species swimming about her among the kelp fronds. This is an acrylic on wood and gallery wrapped canvas panels with airdry clay and fused glass accents. It is made up of 9 individual 12"x12" panels and hangs in three pieces as a triptych. It has a lot of gold, copper, bronze and irridescent colors and would look spectacular in a stairway or as a centerpiece in a living area.

Wonder why I haven't posted any new paintings? When I left for Tacoma my studio was a disaster, now it is even worse! Brandon is building new shelves and cabinets for me,and in a few days it will be much better. I will have room to paint and sculpt again... please be patient!

Melissa at the Tacoma Art Museum Gala


Yeah! Back from my Seattle/Tacoma trip and I'm so excited to settle back into a routine... clean up my house and studio and figure out what to create next. This is a picture of me at the Tacoma Art Museum's Benefit Gala. The theme was Bollywood, so the outfits people wore were amazing! Sold some originals, so that was nice.
